Informed by ongoing feedback and collaborative engagement across the campus community, Ƶ College’s next strategic plan, Imagine | Innovate | Ascend, is being developed. The plan, developed through a thoughtful process, is expected to launch in Fall 2026.

About the Planning Process

The process for developing Imagine | Innovate | Ascend aligns with Ƶ’s mission and vision, ensuring the plan is community-driven, data-informed, and future-focused. The planning process, which began in summer 2025, includes several phases.

Guided by Senior Vice President and Provost Anita Thomas, the pre-planning phase launched in summer 2025, with discussions on what makes Ƶ distinctive; the students of today and the future; and curricular and pedagogic approaches to support the institution’s expected student profile.  

The discovery and input phase included data reviews, an environmental scan, surveys, and listening sessions. Through faculty, staff, student, and community forums, participants engaged thoughtfully around Ƶ’s strengths, challenges, and future needs. The input gathered informs the themes and direction of the emerging strategic plan.

Guided by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, the development phase includes drafting strategic priorities and defining goals, actions, and measurable outcomes.

Following approval by the Ƶ College Board of Trustees, this phase will include aligning resources and bringing the plan to life. The implementation phase focuses on translating shared insights into clear direction and coordinated action across the institution.

Strategic Planning FAQS​

A strategic plan is a comprehensive framework that defines an institution’s long-term vision, priorities, and measurable goals. It ensures alignment of resources and initiatives with the College’s mission and values.

Strategic plans typically span multiple years. Ƶ’s current plan is concluding, and developing a new plan ensures the College remains forward-looking, responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities, and aligned with the evolving needs of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

The Strategic Planning Steering Committee’s role is to guide the process, ensuring broad representation and informed decision-making. 

Final decisions are made by the President in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, informed by extensive input from internal and external stakeholders.

Planning News

As part of Ƶ’s strategic planning efforts, the academic division is creating an academic master plan that will align with the College’s mission and be used to guide curricular and program development decisions.

In honor of 135 years of educating women and in preparation for the launch of a new strategic plan in the fall, Ƶ College will celebrate its mission from January through September 2026. This communication and engagement campaign will highlight members of the Ƶ community demonstrating Ƶ’s mission in action.
